hey guys heres one for ya. in my 65 swb i have a 68 model 302. it was running fine till............................i installed a used camshaft. its an isky cam, 280 duration, 467 lift. i re-used the old lifters. the timing marks were lined up on the gears, i have spark, i have fuel. i pulled a plug wire and grounded it out with a screwdriver, there was spark, did the same with the coil, and there was spark. made sure number one was tdc by pulling the plug and bumping it over till it blew my finger off. installed the distributor with the rotor pointing at the number one mark on the cap. followed the firing order, 15426378, counter clock wise. but it just wont crank. wont back fire, spit or sputter. tried adjusting the valves on each cylinder by bringing each cyliner tdc. some seem like they will adjust right, some dont, the rocker arms are still a little loose with no more adjustment. i have studs, not the rail type. ive heard it could be the used cam in combination with the used lifters. i dont know. i also tried the firing order for 5.0HO and 351W.no luck. so any suggestions??? thanks guys.

is it cranking at normal speed? or does it sound like its hydrolocking? ouble check all plug ins. crank it and watch the rockers for full travel. also more air from a longer duration and lift tends to need more fuel. try turning up your carb a bit and see if it sputters. just a couple ideas.
