changed my fuel filter yesterday afternoon like i have done many times before. drove the truck last night. got home form work today, go to start the truck wont start just keeps turning over. does finaily start then lopes like it has a cam then shuts off. try to start again and nothing, then it starts fine but romps some then run fine. let run for 15 min with no problem. no SES light is on with 1280 code. last time started it worked fine. oil level was fine. ANY IDEAS?? What does 1280 code mean?
I am betting that the lid on the fuel filter isn't seated properly, if I had to guess. A 1280 code is: P1280 ICP Circuit Out of Range Low. How are you getting that code pulled?

i have a edge evoltion programmer for my truck and that will pull codes.
i did not see any fuel leaking out but i will check the lid again. what would be giving me the code porblem?
UPDATE: started truck went to store 2 min from house. SES light is off. get back from store turn truck off. try to restart truck. truck will not start just crank? i checked the fuel filter lid seemed tight and no fuel leaking. i am going to get new oring for filter and try that.
Correct me if i am wrong. but i remember that we can unplug the ICP and the truck should idle ok. To test it if it is giving problems. Coincidence of you filter change that the ICP crapped out?

Nope, that's good info. Unplug the ICP sensor and see if it starts any easier. 1280 is usually the code you'll get when you unplug it, so make sure to check for any damaged wires at the connector. If the truck starts right up every time with the sensor unplugged, it's either a wiring issue, or you need a new ICP.
But also make sure the fuel bowl is full of fuel when this is going on. Fuel issues have been known to throw an ICP code.
If you have an electric boost guage (Autometer) You can plug your guage into the ICP and crank. You'll beable to see if you are getting fuel. Multiply by 100.
where is the ICP plug? what is that? i will check the fuel bowl and filter. the SES was off the last time i tried to start it. but i had a new code on the scanner i know have a 1282 and a 1212 code. i really acts like air in fuel line or not getting fuel
ICP is on the front inboard side of the drivers head.
New codes might also mean an IPR issue, but don't rule fuel out just yet. Check the fuel level in the bowl, and check for a good stream out the drain tube with the key on. Then check the tin nut on the back of the IPR to make sure it's not loose and check the wiring going to the IPR to make sure the insulation is not brittle and the wires have shorted. IPR is on the drivers side head of the HPOP reservoir down low.
just went and unplugged ICP truck started and ran fine plugged it back in truck will just crank. so do i need an new ICP. is just as simple to change as it looks? how much will one of them run me?
Crows foot wrench to remove the old one, but it's the size that half the sets out there seem to skip. Yes changing it is that easy, just don't over tighten. First make sure the wiring looks good with no burnt insulation or damaged pins in the connector.
Those sensors can be a pain, but for once, isn't it nice that you can just unplug one of them and make the truck start?

SUPER easy to change. 5 minutes tops, that includes a few sips of beer.
FYI they changed the size on these sensors, at some point. Same sensor but the nut portion of the sensor might be a difference size than the one on your truck. Don't let it freak you out.
