Merge or liquidate

Obama has stern words for not only Chrysler but GM as well.

Chryslers' future depends on what the Government told them Sunday. Merge (possibly with Fiat or GM) or LIQUIDATE. They’re viability restructuring plan to be in place by the end of this month did NOT “pass mustard” with the Governments bailout demands. Which would render dire consequences for Chrysler/Jeep owners. Very sad day for Chrysler indeed.

How about GM and Ford? Any input as to how this may all play out?

They have to come up with a viable business plan that the govt approves that is scary.
Who in the govt. even knows what a viable business plan is.

Well, they certainly can't do much worse than GM or ChryCo, can they?

Why a dire day for Chrysler/Jeep owners?
Obama specifically stated that even if they can not restructure and bankruptcy doesn't work, The government will stand behind all warranties. Lifetime powertrain warranty is good to go!! As well as service and parts will be available.
Listened to the speech myself.

Now THAT's scary!

There's 'something' about this whole thing that doesn't sound right.

WHY merge with an Italian company??? (FIAT.)

Something stinks. I haven't quite figured it out yet.
Except, Mr. O. is trying (unsuccessfully, sofar, I will add) to get his cabinet filled with people that can't manage their own finances, yet, he wants them to have control over OUR finances!!!

Something is not right in "The Land of The Free and the Home of the Brave", I tell ya.

They've been spending more than they've been taking in for how many years now?

FIAT probably just wants Jeep. That brand has been a curse for every owner since the beginning. American Bantam, ******, Kaiser, American Motors and now Chrysler.

Ford was smart to build Jeeps under license for the military, but never actually own it.

Yup, and Old Henry Ford was smart enough to put his "Tradmarked" "F" on each and every part that the company made for the military, too!
(He said that he's stand behind the vehicles that HE made, but not the others!)

"Old Hank" was a purty smart man. . . . .

Tell me if I am wrong but BO said the only way that chrysler will get anymore govt money is a deal with fiat. Does this not give fiat a lot more leverage in this deal.

Now as far as warranty if the companies that build the parts for gm and chrysler go under where are the parts for a govt warranty going to come from I've been told ford has already run into this and is haveing to start manufacture some of their own parts.
Do you think the govt will start manufactoring parts to uphold the warranty.

And last but not least can ford compete with the govt.
Remember what happened when the feds trien to run the mustang ranch in Nevada.
