I've got a quick transmission question,my father has a 1999 F150 4x4,4.2 auto.the transmission is shot and I have an aod trans from a 1989 5.0 mustang,I realize the tail shaft would be different but is the rest of the trans the same in any way?thanks in advance for any information you have.

 

99 trans u have is electroncily controlled,the on out of the 89 is controled by a tv cable.the parts inside are diff. the 99 has a wide ratio gear set and wider od band.
