About 2K miles ago I replaced the spark plugs on my F150. I used Motorcraft Finewire Plugs. I didn't bother with the wires because they all looked great, no cracks, no dry rot. On the way home this morning it started a constant misfire on cylinder #4. So while it was running, I got out and started moving wires around and whatnot and found that moving the wire on the passenger side rear cylinder (I believe this to be #4 cylinder) it would be come intermittant misfire. So I'm pretty sure it's the wires. Here comes the good part. No one cares motorcraft plug wires around here. What's the next best? Autolite? Duralast? Bosch? Accel? MSD? All kinds of available brands /except/ motorcraft. Go figure. IIRC, these motors with the coil packs damn near require motorcraft parts to keep running properly as they tend to be picky. So if you can offer some suggestion, they'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!
I've tried several others, including performance wires, and the expensive Belden premium wires. Ford's stock ignition is fairly high voltage, and it breaks down the dielecrtic strength of most brands of wires. Autolite (OE spec) can be used, but sticking with Motorcraft is the safest bet. The reason is that while Autolite makes Motorcraft wires, they also make some direct fit parts for Ford models that are not EO spec.
Hah.. just went out with a multimeter and checked the resistance of the cables, of the 4 I checked, 3 were 4 to 6K ohms, and the suspected bad one was 17.5 MEGAOHMS. No wonder it wasn't firing. :P Definitely time to replace.

You're right-that's way too much resistance. Even off-the-shelf stock wires have too much resistance to deliver a decent spark.
