LuK Single Mass Flywheel
and keep hearing that I should NOT go back with another Dual Mass unit, but should instead get the LuK single mass unit. Reasons I've been given are that it's bigger, so more bearing surface, rated for a little more torque, and not apt to wear out! I pull a 7,000 =/- lb travel trailer with the F250 PSD, and want some opinions from some folks who have the LuK in their trucks AND who pull with it. I figure the towing board is the place to look!! So, anybody tow with this clutch/flywheel setup? Any problems with it? Any recommendations? I've got to do something very soon, and there's not a site on the net I trust more than this one, so come on, my friends, give me the scoop!!! Thanks in advance!

Rotorhead;
I helped my Bro-in-law replace the dual mass on his 98 F350PSD last year. We also debated on the single mass vs dual mass. I didn't like the fact that all the dual mass had over the single mass that I could see was to dampen out cylinder power pulses. So we put in the LUK with a new clutch (not-rebuilt) assembly and let her rip. He pulls a 20' flat trailer daily with 3 commercial riders (kubota, gravely, etc) and a bunch of small stuff. total weight about 10,000. The only thing he noticed that my sister didn't like was the pronounced engine pulses. They aren't bad but they are noticeable. Power is same, clutch grabs better and haven't had problems with it for 70,000.
Go for it.

Thanks for the reply! When you say engine pulses, what do you mean? I'm kind of dumb about such things! I'm pretty sure the LuK stuff is what I'm going with. I've spent a week selling stuff to pay for it, so should get the work done this week!
Thanks again, rotorhead

Each time a cylinder fires it makes a bang (or pulse). The dual mass smooths the individual pulses out more than a single mass does.
Crank up your 1 cyl lawn mower. everytime it fires you feel a vibration thru the handle.
Now multiply that by 8. You'll probably feel a slight bit more roughness in the engine because it's not being damped out.
