Does anyone know?

One cold morning my wife tried to put the window done in our '98 Expedition which was frozen in place, the window separates from it's track and apparently is impossible to fix. I've been told by several glass shops that they can re-glue it but it won't stay. No one seems to know what glue is used on these windows in the first place including Ford. Does anyone know who supplies these windows for Ford and/or what glue they use?

I've done both the driver's and passenger side windows. It is not impossible to fix, on the contrary, it is a fairly easy fix. BTW, they used clear silicone...no secret formula.

Manually pull the window up all the way and use strips of duct tape over the top of the door to keep the glass from falling back down.

Do a search on how to remove the door panels. Remove the door speaker and moisture barrier.

The 2 small channels that bond to the glass can be unbolted from the regulators (label them so you don't forget where they go) using the access holes in the door. Also mark the glass with a Sharpie so the glass is correctly positioned when you reassemble. Use a putty knife and a razor to clean the old silicone off the channels and clean glass where they bond together.

Use 100% pure clear silicone and fill the channel with caulk before installing it back on the regulator. Carefully untape the glass and guide it down into the channels where you made your Sharpie marks.

Most importantly put the window in the full up position. Make sure the glass is fully into the channel and leave the window in the up position for 24 hours in an area above 50 degrees.

Any questions, I'll be happy to help more.
