M5OD-R2 5 spped question
Truck is a 1991 F150, 4x4, 5.0 5 speed manual.
Housing cracked. Question is, when replacing this transmission, does it have to be a 4x4 model. Could it come out of a 2wd also or is the 4wd model unique?

On the Mazda M5R2, the difference between a 4x4 and 2 wd transmission is the tail housing and the length of the output shaft.
The transmission needs to be taken apart to replace the output shaft. So yes it can be converted.
