Just curious as to any dream projects out there. Mine is a 1979 ford f-150 2wd - black, custom built round tube frame - antifreeze green, boss 429 fuel injected, blown, automatic overdrive, 4 wheel independent suspension, airbags, 4-link, 4 whell disc brakes, lots of chrome, exterior totally black - only chrome rims showing - 17 - 19 inch, chop top 2 inch, cut box 6 inch before wheel well - 2 inch after. Interior would all black steel and fibreglass except black bucket seats with all green digital gauges. would like to hear about yours - 4wd or 2wd.
wow, sounds like a lot of work but a great finished product. Me personaly, my current truck will be a basic, 79 4x4 F150 with a little lift, enough to be mean yet modest enough not to over do it. lol Not certain of the motor or tranny yet, but by the time I'm done, it will be a manual. lol I have a 289 hi-po in an 86 t-bird, but that wont be enough motor for a pickup. in my eyes, theres no replacement for displacement
I'm thinking a 400 or a 460. lol
All in all, it sounds like your truck will be awesome!
I want to build a Factory Restore '73-'76 SCS with a bored and stroked 390 which could run on straight nitrous.
And this beast would have huge chrome mufflers coming out the side (OR maybe on the top like a diesel,I haven't decided)
And maybe a couple inch lift..
And those big thick heavy mudding tires for peeling out...
And I would go to the Indy 500!
first off welcome to FTE wlittle and second your dream truck sounds like a lot of work, but it would be one mean green machine! and thirdly, i all ready have my dream truck, i am in the process of building it, and its being built the exact way i want it to! you can check out a before picture of it in my signature, it was only a rear wheel drive truck then, its now a 4x4 since i picked up the mint 77 f-150 short box 4x4 complete rolling frame with a np205 transfer case, click the link in my signature it will take you to a video of my truck, i will be posting a update as soon as its gets closer to being done
I'm working on it. '66 Olds Dynamic 88 Dash (anything but the factory squares! I HATE them), Tilt steering, floor shifter, manual steering, old school steering wheel with the chrome ring, aluminum rear view. 2wd, street tires. 360, maybe a few bolt ons like a K&N, carb spacer?, electric fans, headers, pipes. Prefer auto, but I think I'll stick with manual. 3.7 something rear gears (or lower). Front and rear sway bars. Heavy duty rear bumper for some towing. '66 olds Push-button door handles. Smaller square chrome mirrors. Bucket seats, Flat door panels, '69 F100 window handles, black and tan probably (all the seats I already have are either black or tan). I think I want to swap trim to race track, instead of thick bottom trim. '77 headlight louvers w/ Billet grilles (maybe). $100 cd player mounted right below dash, with a pair of $75 6x9's in the doors. Ranger badge delete, antenna delete?, stake hole delete. Maybe stars instead of F_O_R_D in the front grille. Not fixed on a color yet, I'll probably go 2 tone if I get racetrack trim. I'd love a drop and some tasteful rims, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Maybe a wood bed and a marine rope net for a tailgate.
Thanks for the welcome! I have been a ford fan since my youth when my brother ha 1975 F-100 2wd. I was always around when he added someting new. I still remember the sound of that truck 20 years later. It had a mild 302, 4 barrel, headers and a true dual with thrush mufflers going into a 4 pipe exit just before the rear tires. I know my dream truck sounds like a lot of work, but I have been building it in my head since I was 15 - 20 years ago. I have a few project trucks now, but the one I am going to do is my 1979 F-150 extended cab and turn it into a 4x4 when I find the parts. If anyone needs anything, let me know because I have a few extra parts around. Check out one of my trucks, Copperhead - 1977 F-150 2wd in the gallery.

I got my truck (see sig) now it's just a matter getting it back on the road. Long..... Long term dream would be to put a modern drive train in it, a warmed up V10 and auto with O/D and shift on the fly 4x4. A nice cushy interior and maybe air bag the suspension.
Sounds like a pretty awesome truck wlittle. One question though, how are you gonna 4 link an independent rear suspension? Or was that and either/or deal?
A few more touches and I'll have my dream truck!! Leather seats and drop it.
