Today I got a call from a friend that has a 2000 F450 bone stock with 90K on it. He said that he was coming home with an empty trailer and his truck just lost all power and was shaking bad. I first thought boost leak. I headed over there and checked all the boots, the oil, the fuel filter, the up-pipes, pulled codes, and then the uvcwh's. The only code I got was p1316. The driver's side ohmed out fine. The pass side, I couldn't get anything between the common and any of the injectors. I could get resistance between injector to injector, just not to common. I called Chris(F350-6) to confirm my suspicions of the truck running on the driver's side bank only. He said that is was possible for it to run on one bank, but it would shake bad. I couldn't take the vc off today because we were outside at his barn and it's raining. He is going to drive it home and pull it in the garage, so I can start on it later this week. I didn't think to do this today but, I am going back over there tomorrow and try to start the truck with the pass side uvcwh unplugged. Just to see if this makes any difference. This truck has had 5 used injectors, 3 used glow plugs, used gpr, and a cps put in it last year. BTW. The genius who put all this used crap in, also skinned 1 of the wires going to the ps uvcwh and, this guy is a mechanic that specializes in 7.3's . Thanks for the help Chris
My guess is when you pull the other connector the truck won't start. These trucks will start and run on 4 cylinders, but I haven't been able to get them to do much on 0 cylinders except for going down hill

No, the driver side is good and I'm leaving it plugged up. I didn't try to start the truck with the ps side unplugged(which is bad). I just want to see if it runs any different with it unplugged.
Subscribing.
5 used injectors???
I'm guessing that it was on 5 different occations too.
What equally concerns me is the fact that this "7.3 mechanic" trimmed the insulation off one of the wires (Huck thinks it's one of the glow plug wires) going to the UVCH exposing about 1/2" of copper in the wiring.
So we've got a mechanic trimming back wires that all the manuals say "Do not pierce to test" and sticking in used injectors. Huck also mentioned that the connector outside the valve cover seemed loose when he first looked at it.
The more you know about it, the worse it seems. The mechanic wasn't that powerstroke help guy was it

Nope, all at the same time. He also changed pcm's, but said that he changed them back.

I started to say something in the 1st post about him. They are very similar. This cat may have got his training online at powerstrokehelp.com.
sounds like a real mechanic to me. This is yet another reason that I dont take me truck to someone to work on it. Good luck with getting the truck to run and let us know what it ends up to be.

It's shoddy work by some "so called" mechanics that give a real mechanic a bad name. I glad people trust me to do things right when I work on their trucks and equipment.

I sure will.

I've warned people about this guy before. Some just have to learn the hard way.
Why is it most guys like us, on this forum, are more **** about their work, doing it the right way the first time, without cutting corners, when compared to so-called professional mechanics who screw things up or do things the wrong way?

It's getting like this in every profession IMHO. It seems that workmanship and pride are on their way out the door.
