Question Need Some Answers

I am new to this forum stuff. I joined this forum because I needed some answers. I have a 72' F250 camper special custom w/ a 390. I am not much of a mechanic as far as the real technical stuff goes but I am not afraid to work on my truck. I am also eager to learn my truck better. I would like to swap my stock 2barrel intake and carburetor with a 4barrel intake and carb. my question is (and I know that its already been answered some where here, but I am growing impatient with trying to find it) what intake is compatable, and what size carb should I get? the truck is bone stock aside from an engine rebuild. Also what type of cheap headers could I salvage that are compatable, as it still has stock single exhaust.

Something like an Edelbrock performer and a vacuum secondary 600 cfm carb should work good on a basically stock 390. As for headers check Summit or Jegs for a set of their brand headers.

Good luck.

the edelbrock rpm is a proven beast, with plenty of runner velocity. All aluminum intakes for the ford fe are expensive in my opinion. The cast iron "T" or "s" are similar to a performer except weight. Theres a 50 lbs difference. I also agree with a 600cfm carb, i prefer holley. edelbrock works good for going to the store.
