Anyone know how hard it would be to change out the guages? I have a 1987 F150 4x4 302 efi.
the truck have dual gas tanks but the gauge dont work for crap on both tanks and i want a tach, my cluster dosnt have one and i dont want a tach just bolted to the dash some where. my brother also has a 87 with a 302 w/ a tach..
It should only be a matter of removing the stock gauge cluster and installing one with a tach. I believe you might be able to swap speedometer/odometer from one to the other to keep the correct mileage if you want. I believe that the best bet would be to find a gauge cluster from an 87 or 88, possibly 89, but I'm not sure. I can't remember if it is 89 or 90 when a resistor was added to the oil pressure gauge circuit that made it into a "dummy gauge" operated by a pressure switch instead of a variable sender like what is in your 87.
