Transferring The ESP
Just bought an 05 6.0 psd which still has warranty on the diesel engine until 02/2010. I transferred the name on the warranty into mine and happened to be facing the monitor of the service gal at my local Ford dealership. I noticed the truck has an ESP until 2012 but the name was different from the person who sold it to me (the correct name was on the base warranty). I inquired about the ESP and the Ford dealer told me I would need to get a hold of the person who's name the ESP's is in, go to the dealership that sold the ESP and fill out the paperwork and pay the $100 to get it transferred. Problem is the person I bought the truck from doesn't know the person the ESP is under ( I didn't ask her if they had the ESP, I just asked if they knew the person). Could there be a mistake? Can I get the ESP into my name without trying to track down the Original ESP Owner?

That would suck if you had to do all that legwork. WTF?? Why can't they just switch it around in the computer thats right in front of them? Why do things need to be so difficult? Good luck, hopefully you get an easier solution.

Usually if a vehicle has an extended warranty when traded in that warranty is credited to the new vehicle or a prorated refund is given to the previous owner. It sounds like someone dropped the ball somewhere.

Thanks guys. Further to 69cj's thought, this is the line the Dealership was going down. Funny thing is they probably don't volunteer this info to an ESP Owner (probably small print on the Warranty somewhere).
