I have to help my friend move (forgot that he mentioned something that week, and forgot to NOT answer the phone =]).
Anyway, I was wondering how much weight I can pull in my truck. I have a 1987 F-250 with the manual 7.5 460. I'm not sure about the ratio but I'm relatively sure its stock, but the mechanic I took it to to check it out after my dad gave it to me said it had the "4x4, towing, and snow plow" packages on it when I asked about any special features it has.
Course its kind of funny when I ran the vin through a vin checker and it said i had a 5.4L V8 EFI, hehe.
thanks for any help you can give..maybe I can get him moved in 1 or 2 trips.
If you're talking about renting a trailer, you can pull anything that UHaul or Ryder have on their lots. It will probably be 16'-20' or less with a GVWR of 7K-8K. I tow my son's HS Marching Band Trailer which is 24', tandem axle & a GVWR of 7K lbs. Don't put all the heavy stuff in front unless you have a weight distributing hitch.
If you're talking about loading the bed, your rated cargo capacity is probably just under 2K lbs. You'll probably fill the bed's volume before hitting the weight capacity unless he's got a big record collection or lot's of books.
