I have just bought a new (to me) 2002 ford f250 with the 7.3L and the cruise control does not work I have taken a part the switches and cleaned the connections and checked all the fuses and could not find any thing wrong but it still doesnt work. Has anyone else had problems like this with theres and found away to fix it?
Consider the clock spring -does your horn work? Airbag light on?
"The clock spring in your car is a very important part of your vehicle?s airbag system. The clock spring sits behind the air bag and allows the mounting of steering wheel mounted accessories such as cruise control and audio controls. It also provides power to the airbag so it can deploy during a crash. The electrical connections to the steering wheel and the airbag have to be in the form of a spring because the steering wheel turns and the electrical connection must be maintained no matter the angle of the steering wheel. Over time and many turns the clock spring wears out and may cause failure of electrical components on the steering wheel or worse, failure of the airbag to deploy. If your airbag light is on or your steering wheel mounted controls aren?t working anymore, replace your clock spring with the right part the first time. You will save money in the long run."
I checked the censer on the master cylinder and it is plugged in and there is no lights on the dash the only thing i can think of that is causing the cruise not to work is the speed control censer .... is there any way of testing it to see if it is not working with out swapping in another one?
