I have a 96 Bronco E.B., 5.8L that originally threw a P0443 CEL. "EVAP Canister Purge Control Solenoid or Valve Faulty" What am I looking for? Secondly, I modified the exhaust after running the OBD II, putting straight dual exhaust with glass-packs on, leaving off the 3rd in-lind o2 (between the cat and the muffler, and now I have a P0102, a P0136, and a P1401. I realize that this is all from the sensor being disconnected, but my question is, can I reinstall it to one side of the exhaust or the other without having to install a crossover of some kind? Thanks for any help you can provide. One more thing, even before the exhaust work, when I just had the one code, the tranny shifted good, it just didn't want to shift into OD till you hit about 60mph and let completely off the throttle. Would the 0443 code have anything to do with that or is that another problem all together?
The canister purge valve is a little disk like thing in a vacuum line between the charcoal canister and the intake.
Yes, putting the sensor in the exhaust on 1 side is fine.
I don't see the 443 code affecting the tranny, that evap system just collects gas vapors from the tank.
Ok, now here's what I've found out. I found the purge valve, and unplugged the electrical connection, and it solved my high idle, it also stopped my flashing o/d light ( i don't get that one) but it still doesn't want to shift into O/D until you let off the throttle. I guess I need to replace the valve, and of course it's the expensive one, not the cheap one. Anyone know why this has anything to do with the tranny?
P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
P0136 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P1401 DPFE Circuit High Input
If the computer is not getting the correct MAF readings it will throw everything off including the tranny shift patterns, you want to check this out.
The DPFE circuit is part of the EGR system, it won't affect the tranny directly but may cause drivability issues.
The O2 circuit malfunction is the secondary sensor you are missing, this one you can ignore.
OK. I only got the other codes after I changed the exhaus. The 0443 is the original problem, I've corrected the O2 problem, I just haven't checked it with the obd II yet. So replacing the purge valve should correct my problem, is that what I'm gathering from you?
