pitman arm

I have noticed my steering is getting a little loose, so I got under my truck and found the nut loose on the pitman arm! I am just curious if anyone else has come across this? Is it a common problem for these trucks?

This may be taboo, but I torqued mine and then spot welded the nut so this would stop occuring. The problem it causes is excessive wear in the splines to the point that no matter how tight the nut is you will still have play, and so will continue to increase wear.

i'd rather double up a nut then spot weld onto the pitman shaft..

i wouldnt say the SD trucks are prone to pitman arms becoming loose..but it can happen to any truck really...

since ur truck is lifted its possible the nut simply came loose after the drop pitman arm was installed over a length of time...
