Post Electric Brake Controllers

My rig is a 1968 F-250 2WD longbox with a remanufactured 390-V8 w/RV cam, New Process 435 tranny and a 4.10 rear end. We're buying a 4200 lb. travel trailer with a 400 lb. tongue weight and undecided as to which electric brake controller to buy. The dealer recommends a Tenoshka Sentinel but I'm curious why the Hayes-Lemmerz Sycronizer (Part No. 81725), at a much cheaper price, wouldn't work just as well. Pros and cons??? Help me out. Thanks.

Electric Brake Controllers

You can try looking here: http://www.agri-supply.com/catmain/5000003.htm

They have the lowest prices I've seen around.

A Prodigy is the top of the line. Jordon also makes a good unit.

The Tenoshka is the best buy in the long run. I have used one for years and never had any problem with it.

Electric Brake Controllers

Hi there. The number one brake controller on the market is the Tekonsha Prodigy, the same company who makes the Sentinal. It is the only brake control that has an easy to use digital readout, a lifetime warranty, a quick disconnect feature so that you can remove it from the bracket and mount it in a 2nd vehicle, handles up to 8 brakes, and best of all, is proportial, yet self leveling. In English, it is very user friendly unlike many motion sensing brake controllers, because it is completly self leveling due to an inert gas inside. It also has a boost feature designed to give you more initial braking power when on freeways if needed. It is the only brake controller that operates when you are backing up too. It is far superior to any other controller on the market. There are many cheap controllers out there on the market, many of which are not proportional-they have no idea how hard you are braking, they just work off of a time delay. You set when you want the brakes to activate, and they will to the level you have it set on. High percentages of failure rates in many cheaper controllers. The Sentinal is not a bad brake controller, but if you are going to spend the money, you might as well buy a Prodigy! That is just my opinion though! -Andrea
