Need Help On Wheel Size & Backspacing

Back in January, I purchased a set (5) of wheels for my Super Duty in preparation for the install of a 7" Icon lift kit. The wheels are 18X9 Gear Alloy 712C. Now, I wanted to keep the wheels tucked in the fender wells, which is why I had to use this wheel size having 5.39" of backspacing. In my research for 37" tires, I'm seeing that most have a 13.5" section width, which calls for a wheel width of 8.5"-11". I know that I'm within the spec with the 9" width wheel but should I get the 10" width wheel with 4.50" of backspacing? I realize that they will protrude from the wheel wells but I don't want to have the appropriate size for the 37X13.5RX18LT tires.

Should I exchange the 18X9 wheels for the 18X10 wheels? They just became available and are limited supply... I'll need to act quickly. Thanks!

10" wides will give you better handling and maybe a little better tire wear.

For the 18X10 wheel, will the -25mm offset, 4.50" backspacing, and 10" width cause the wheel to protrude too far out from the fender wells? I don't mind installing fender flares... I just wasn't planning on it.

Personal preference, but they will stick out a little more than 3" vs. the stock 18x8s.

I think it'll look good, but I like the tires to stick out a little.

I run 12" wide wheels with 4.5" BS and 15.50" wide tires on my 01 so I'm used to the tires sticking out

I'll call tomorrow and see if they will exchange the wheels... crossing my fingers. Thanks Dan!

I've decided to stay with the 18X9 wheels because the 18X10 protrude too far because of the back spacing. Thank you for the assistance anyway!

Your looks great with those taller & wider 38X14.50R16LT Toyo tires! Did you get a new grille?

Those are 38/15.50R20 Dick Cepek Mud Country Tires.....on 20x12 Weld Methods. The Dick Cepeks and Mickey Thompsons are the widest 15.50s I've seen.

Got the grille about a year ago, it's a 04 Harley Edition Grille.

I sold the 38/14.50R16s on the 16x10s a few years ago.....went to 20x10 Welds with 40/15.50R20 Toyos, then the 38/15.50R20 Dick Cepeks and then last year to the 20x12 Welds.

Well, it looks like I'll be getting the 18X10 wheels after all. I was really concerned about the handling and wear aspects so I took your advice. I dropped off my 18X9 wheels today and should get the 18X10 wheels either tomorrow or on Monday. I'll post pics. Now, which fender flares should I get...

Should look awesome... are you going to regear?

Have you purchased the DR 7" yet? I know TxFireman is selling the front kit for aobut $750... hell of a deal. All you'd need is rear lift and rad. arm brackets or 4-link.

I'm definitely going to re-gear with 4.88 gears. I haven't purchase the 7" lift kit yet because I have a few other mods that I want to get out of the way (headlights, grille, and exhaust system).

Who is TxFireman? I Google'd it but nothing came up that looked "lift" related.

He's a member here at FTE and he has a thread in the 'for sale' forum at **************** - his full username is TxFireman1972

He actually found a killer deal on a DR 4.5" that I bought/have on my truck.
