I have often wondered about that fonefiddy. There are several guys here time to time like ola from norway and west then theres tmurgen from russia these guys just don't have very good parts availability.
Sending them parts would take awhile but there has to be a way.
Sounds good, right now the yard near my house has 4 or 5 diesels in it from a '80 sumthin with a C-6 - and - a 4speed, to a 92 with a E4od,but no injector pump....I got that... ..
When I got my manuals I got BODY CHASSIS MANUAL,ENGINE DRIVTRAIN MANUAL,7.3 TURBO DIESEL SUPPLEMENT. The first two are around 3800 pages each and the latter around 900 pages. Then I sourced an ELECTRICAL AND VACUUM TROUBLESHOOTING MANUAL from Auto-Repair-Manuals.com - Car, Truck, Motorcycle, ATV, & Marine Manuals, OBD Scanners, & More! and they posted it out with your mail service . I think I had it within about 3-4 weeks. They find new old stock and second hand mauals and if they dont have what you want they will do a search for you. I found them to quite helpful. The oem manuals can be found at HELM and they definitley had what I wanted and the price was about $90-100 US so that was ok but they wanted $200-250 US for postage so that was a bit pricey so I left them then about a week later my parts guy had the first three for $300 AUS so I grabbed them. They are brilliant and cover almost everything you just got to get used to their index system. My dad saw them and said they were the exact same layout as the ones that came with his L8000 LOUISVILLE when he bought it in 1978 and about the same size to.
Well if you have the manual and have done all the tests and checked all the fuses in cab and engine compartment..... then a recheck is best option line by line.
I have a deal for you Aussie,
You get me a CrewCab 4wd. TurboDiesel Hi-Lux and convert it to LH drive.
I'll get you an IDI (whichever you want) convert it to RH drive.
We'll meet out in the ocean somewhere and swap!
So you like the Hilux hey. Anything before 2000 are a dime a dozen over here but they are quite small compared to the f series. They pretty good and we use them for 4x4 conversions a fair bit. My mate and I put a Holden HZ one tonne ute on a hilux chassis with a 302 n/a windsor using the original box and diffs. Good fun and slightly lower center of gravity than the original if a little bit heavier. I have seen quite a few holden wagons on top of hilux chassis and a mate of mine flipped the diffs and transfer case and puy a 253 ci holden v8 with trimatic in the tray to make a mid mount for dune jumping. I have seen 5-6 feet of daylight under it at Lancelin dunes in western australia.

We've NEVER had them over here.
I'm actually not that particular on brand I just want a CrewCab, straight-axle, 4-banger turbo diesel in a compact truck. Not being that informed on small truck turbo diesels I'd just go with conventional wisdom that the Toyota is the way to go. I've seen some pictures/articles of some Nissan/Datsuns and Mitsubishis I would have gladly taken though.
It would probably replace my Cherokee not my full-size trucks.
Dodge/Cummins, If you watch Ebay you can sometimes find Toyota Diesel engines to buy that will fit in Toyota that is already here. Some guy in Florida imports the engines and sells them to put in toyota trucks.
Exactly, it has to be a CrewCab.
I tried to buy a guys '85 ext. cab turbo diesel. It was a straight axle and 5-speed, everything but a CrewCab. I just wanted the drivetrain anyway as it was from Alaska and was a rusted-out hulk.
He sold it to some guy up there. I told him to drive it down and I'd pay what he could get for it up there and fly him back since he comes down evey year anyway.
I should have had starmilt drive it back. He'd a' been in hog-heaven driving a rusted-out Toyota through Canada. The frame was almost rusted in half in the rear but he PROBABLY would have made it?????????
