Not really carp but just not our kind of stuff either.....
Some of the 5th wheel campers and other write off`s go for almost full dealer list, I just can`t figure why the bids get so crazy......
One of the guys at work buys campers that need fixing and he does the work and resells them. H e is always looking for Boler or Trililion trailers. He has got stung too. He bought one susposedly in good shape. Then they found water leaking in the roof. He tore it apart and found the roof all rotted. So he parted it out and still made a profit. He gets a lot of his stuff south of the border right now.
he bought them last fall before the dollar really went back up. He has a few parked in Washington state that he plans to get this summer. He bought them last year. He really never touches the stuff from SGI. He says there usually more problems with the unit. People have leaks or rodent problems. Then make a clainm to get rid of the trailer to have SGI give them money to buy another trailer. He said a lot of the trailers were cheap unit these people bought and they find lots wrong with thm and spend some money on them and try to sell them and cannot get their costs back. so they make claims of wind damage or whatever and they usually get more from sgi than they could recoup.
Too bad it does not work like that on the cars. Then everyone would be getting rid of their lemons for a profit.
Thats very good info Glen. We were pondering looking at a 5th wheel trailer from sgi. I guess a guy had better inspect it really really closely though.
Well the 95 Ranger went for $550. That was a good deal.
Whoever is posting the pics from Moose Jaw is not doing a very good job. He has nothing but close ups of a certain area of the truck, but it does not reveal the true extent of the damage. The one set shows pictures of the hood and says front end damage, but you annot even see the damage, just a nice shiny hood.
There is a 65 Merc grain truck on there that burned. Too bad. But maybe a person can salvage some sheet metal from the cab. Or maybe resurrect the cab.
I also notice that the prices seemed to have dropped now. Late this year to do their clearing out.
A 2006 truck for 1500. (one from moose Jaw of the hood only pics)
Ive noticed the old half and 3/4 tons arent as common in the past few auctions. I wonder why that is. Like 4 months ago they had a good selection every week!
This week there are actually a couple of them. I was pondering bidding on the 94 from meadow lake with fire damage. Would make a perfect 4x4 donor truck for my 91 shortbox project!
I saw that one too. I don't know why they branded it not to go back on the road. Their pictures did not show any real fire damage. The trucks body looked pretty darn good.
I wish they say more at times if it was an engine fire, or electrical fire.
The sad thing with SGI is they lately have been posting crappy pics that do not show the damage areas well. Like right side damge yet they post the left side of the truck.
Good one was the 61 Cadillac they had last week. It was drivers door damage. They took the pictures from way back. You could see the door was damaged, but how bad? I saw the trailer next to the cad and it provided a better picture of the door. The Cadillac went for $2500.
Yeah Im not sure what burnt on that truck either. If it was just the interior, and the motor could be saved, it could be a good deal.
Has alot of parts I could used to complete my shortbox project, and I dont think i would need any more parts trucks! (unless i went with a 5 speed over the auto)
