02 explorer wiring
dad just bought a 2002 explorer. trying to figure out how to hook up the wiring under the dash for electric brake system? dealerships seem to have NO CLUE. help is crucial to summer camping and 4 Wheeling! PLEASE HELP!!!!

to be honest....i am not 100% sure. i know he has the tow package on the rear bumper and etc. the problem comes into play with the control box that goes under the dash. for some reason the wiring is either not there or is MIA. no one in the area seems to know where to begin. anymore help would be very useful. thanks

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Jul-02 AT 09:29 PM (EST)]There should be an empty plug under the dash uusually near the drivers side.There is a pigtail for the brake controller that plugs in here after you wire the controller to it.I wouldn't be suprised if the pigtail connector came with the vehicle.Look for a cardboard box about 3"x3"x10".If you don't have it go get one from the parts dept.at the dealer.I would imagine it's less than 20 bucks and most likely less than $10.

Oh BTW,If it came with the large 7 pin connector at the rear tell the dealer he owes your Pop a brake controller pigtail
