96 5.8 performance upgrades?

Hey guys, Im curious to know what the best performance upgrades are for a 96 f250 5.8 w/o mass air without pulling the engine and going through it. Iv got fresh plugs, wires, coil, and air filter, as well as an exhaust (true duals with no cats and flowmaster 40's) What I would like is some more lower end grunt. Thanks

Long tube headers would help you...Different ratio rockers to give you more lift..Mabee advance the timing a little..Hang on you will get lots of ideas..Lew

YouTube - The story of my Ford

still miss my old truck

mods

single 3' flowmaster no cats
tming advaced at 14btdc
open more free flowing intake
pullution pump delete
msd
ford racing cap wires plugs gapped at 0.55

headers and cam is the best bang for your buck tough!

the cheapest cam u can do and work barely without mass air is the Ecam

Also rear end gears will help alot depending on tire size...Underdrive pulleys will help free up extra HP...

Throw a new fuel filter on it to get things started.

This might not be good for your application, but in a Ford Performance Truck magazine they put an electric fan on an '02 Lightning and were rewared with 12RWHP and 19RWTQ. I am reasearching the idea on internet for myself...

Is it 4WD? Base timing?

Like Lew said, gears would give you a good seat-of-the-pants improvement.

^ Sweet, what kind of fan are you running?

Was there a decent gain in power and mileage?

Its a flex lite 16" I cant say how much it did because i put it on the same time the new motor went in..But any time you can take drag off the motor is good .. Lew

contrary to popular belief, you can put a supercharger on there. And you don't need to pull the motor to do it.

Iv also done replaced the fuel filter. My timing is at 12 degrees right now. Love that little extra gain from the timing.

I see more than one post here about adjusting the timing. I was told that mine is electronically controlled (92 F150, 351W). Is that not the case? I had looked into this a while back but, based on the answers I got, I stopped researching this.

The timing advance is controlled by the computer but your base timing can be changed...So if your base timing is 10 deg you can change it to 12 deg....Lew
