help!!!!!!!!! i was thinking about towing a 8 foot trailer full of crushed stone with a 1992 4.0 five speed overdrive mazda transmision. am i risking wear on my clutch and is it safe to pull out other vehicles from snow banks etc. thanks in advance
It will put quite a bit more wear on your clutch if you do it often but it's not harmful as in it won't destroy anything. What truck, a ranger? How much does the trailer weigh? What's the GVWR on the door jam?
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Heavyduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Weighs around 7,000lbs w. 65mph top speed, who wants to race me!
thanks mustang GT221....i looked on the door for the GVWR and it said for the front its 2500 LB. and the rear is 2550 LB....the truck is a ranger supercab xlt. the trailer weight is aprox.400 lb.dry..its just a one time haul for crushed stone for my driveway and once in a blue for someone being stuck to be rescued to pull out of a jam...i replaced my own clutch last year at this time my self and what a job that was.....just want to be easy on my clutch for many years to come
whoa Ranger.
You say the trailer weighs approx, 400 lbs, but you are forgetting something......
the crushed stone weighs about a ton per yard. Crushed stone, brick concrete are very heavy, and can easily take you above limits.
Dont overload that small trailer either, as its axles may be to weak to take that heavy load.
I suggest you find out the capacity of the trailer, and try to stay within the guidlines of the trailer manufacturer.
thanks for the info. on my truck vettehauler...will be very carefull on your advise and maybe i can use my relatives f150 and do this without to worry on breaking something...im not in a hurry on my crushed stone as i want to put it there befoe fall time the least.. sorry i did not get back to you soon enough ...family is keeping me busy here at home he heee...thanks again
