Hi all, I'm new to this forum. Great to see all of the helpful posts. My question is simple. Do injectors for turbocharged engines require different return caps? I bought a return kit from dealer and have some leakage. A friend mentioned that he had to use different o-rings than what he got with a kit. I have an '89 F-250 Lariat, 7.3, aftermarket turbo, CTS I think and a Gear Vendors O/D. The engine ran great , no leaks. Glow plugs started to act up and while I was testing them I accidently broke a hose nipple off of a return cap.
Yes, the turbo trucks have a 'T' to allow the crossover in FRONT of the intake, instead of behind the intake on NA engines.
The o-rings are all the same. You need to make sure they're seated fully. Look at them all. They should all be within about an 1/8" of the injector shoulder.
I got a Dipaco kit from a Ford dealer. As I said my truck has an aftermarket turbo and has not had the turbo style return system installed. I can see the advantage so I will probably change over. Back to the Dipaco kit, the caps in the kit leak badly with the furnished o-rings. I put the kit o-rings in one of my existing caps and no leaks. Like I said, a friend had the same problem but didn't note the brand name. I used a couple of CAT o-rings from my misc. collection that were a little thicker, in the Dipaco cap that I used to replace the original that I broke and no leak. By the way Ford charged $105 Canadian for the kit.
