Major repairs !!!
It all started when the EGR cooler let loose a cloud of steam.
I tore it down and found that the oil cooler was plugged so not enough coolant was getting to the EGR cooler so it crapped out changed both units and found that a 1 5/8 frost plug fits perfectly between the EGR cooler and the uppipe so I shouldn't have that problem again,
When I got all that done the truck was missing/running rough, I thought that it might be an air locked injector so I went to go for a drive, made it about 200 yards and it quit, then a no start, off to the stealer on a hook and in the shop for a week new injectors and ficm ( all the coils failed )
the interesting thing was that there were no dtc's showing.
after the injectors were replaced they flashed her up and went for a drive, all is well they tell me. I go to pick her up and I have a no start right in the dearler lot... Now I am Pissed that was 4300.00 already,
they check for dtc' and find that the ipr is open/No pressure...CRAP!!!
now it is another 450.00 out of pocket but It finally is running again...
I am a happy camper again, although I will be camping in the back yard this year as I can't afford to go anywhere...LOL
all in all I cant be upset at the techs at the dealer, they tried to get me warranty on the injectors as there were only 13000 km on them but fomoco nixed that . it sucks to have this kind of luck but it still beats the alternative...CHEV or Dodge...yuk !!
The BLUE blood runs deep here
I have learned a lot from this forum... Keep up the good work everyone
MIKE
My dealer gave me a good deal on parts and labour but still came to $3700 for all the injectors and filters and tank flush. And I've only put 10K on this used truck.
