Question Mix and match advice

A few years ago I gave my brother, for his birthday, a 429 out of a '69 Torino I had. When I bought the car I was told it was a 30 over '70 model 429. My brother transplanted it into his '78 F150 4x4. It finally gave out a few weeks ago and my brother is going to rebuild it. Engine casting numbers are...block D1VE-6015-A, crank 4U, rods D0OE-A, pistons L1245F and the heads are D0VE-C. From the part number on the pistons, I believe they are TRW forged? The engine failure was due to the crank. He wants to use a 2YABC 460 crank in the rebuild. Will that crank work with the other parts? Any info. will be great. Thanks, Daniel.

it won't work with the pistons. the difference between a 429 and a 460 is the crank and the pistons. the compression hieght of the pistons are changed to compensate for the stroke differences.

Thanks, monsterbaby. I figured as much, just needed some one to confirm it. So...any body got any cheap pistons that would work?

Danism80,
If you do find some 460 pistons to change the 429 over, what you going to do with those 429 pistons cause I got a 429 to build.
Thanks Neil

I haven't seen him to give him the bad news yet. I'm pretty sure he would sell them to get some that will work. Make an offer I guess.
