A few years ago I gave my brother, for his birthday, a 429 out of a '69 Torino I had. When I bought the car I was told it was a 30 over '70 model 429. My brother transplanted it into his '78 F150 4x4. It finally gave out a few weeks ago and my brother is going to rebuild it. Engine casting numbers are...block D1VE-6015-A, crank 4U, rods D0OE-A, pistons L1245F and the heads are D0VE-C. From the part number on the pistons, I believe they are TRW forged? The engine failure was due to the crank. He wants to use a 2YABC 460 crank in the rebuild. Will that crank work with the other parts? Any info. will be great. Thanks, Daniel.
it won't work with the pistons. the difference between a 429 and a 460 is the crank and the pistons. the compression hieght of the pistons are changed to compensate for the stroke differences.
