I used Hellwig helper springs ( the ez-1000) on my '89.
install was a breeze, one open end wrench and one socket .
I tow a 14" travel trailer with my Honda quad in the box.
It had a slight "sag" to it the first time I went to Pismo. After installing the Hellwig it sat nice and level. Keep in mind that the EZ 1000 is a medium helper spring kit you can also get ther hevy duty kit. Cost is very reasonable too.
If you are having bounce problems in the rear then I suggest a dual shock kit. That or installing the rancho or something similar adjustable shock. With the increased load and leverage the shock has a much bigger job to do. Sometimes one shock is not up to the job.
Air bags have one redeeming quality. They are pretty universal and when you sell the truck they are on, you can keep them and put them on the new one.
