A blackberry with the "Garmin" app works well for me, does everything an automotive unit does. I also have another app called "blackstar" that gives waypoints, compass, deg heading, altitude and lat-long for usage in the boat.
Garmin Nuvi 660 - I like it, altho it has it's quirks also. Can play MP3 music while on the road. Has the larger screen. Think it was around $350 a year or so ago.
St. George Tucker: “This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty… The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.”
I have the pio avic in my truck and we have the garmin nuvi 700 series in my wifes LR3.....if they sold a built in garmin i would have gotten it for my Ex. IMO you can't go wrong with a garmin.
I love my Tomtom 730. Aa car salesman, I have tried almost all of the built in systems and the Tomtom is superior. Considedr this unit. Plus you can upgrade to bluetooth wireless rmeote for cheap. I just did. Got extra mounts & charger plus it has its own internal battery system for carrying around.
Just my thoughts when I saw this thread. Tom tom is easiest to use and incredibly visible any time of day or night.

I used to work for Circuit City and when I did, very few people seemed to like the Magellans, Tom Toms, or much else. More often than not, people brought them back and spent the money on mid to upper Garmins. People found them easier to operate and understand, from what I heard. I guess Garmin's slogan worked better than than they thought: "Get a Garmin or Get Lost".
