Differential question.....
I hope i didnt put this in the wrong thread but o well...I am hearing alot of you say you are changing your rear and front diff fluids....well i was reading some of my manual and in the back on page 62 it says "Rear axles and PTO units containing synthetic lubricants and light duty trucks equipped with Ford-design axles are lubricated for life. THese lubricants are not to be checked or changed unless a leak is suspected or the axle has been submersed in water"...so whats with this...What are you guys doing with em......and do our trucks have these "maintenance free diffs"???

The diff is sealed so it should be OK for life. I changed my fluid after putting a diff cover on the rear with a temp sensor. I doubt I would have bothered with mine otherwise being the original owner. If I bought a truck used I would change the fluid to be sure it was clean and check the gears.

Thats what my manual states, but i have a tiny weep at the pinion seal so i will be changing mine in a couple of weeks. Have a big tow coming up in a month or so and dont want to take any chances.
