how would i go about replacing the clutch switch on a 1992 f150 5spd with the i6 motor? im pretty sure the switch is shot unless there is some way to adjust it? anyway, does it come apart, or do i have to find the end of the rod to slide it off?
The easiest way I found to get it off is to unbolt the master cylinder, then there is a white plastic piece that you slide backwards and it comes right off the pushrod. It'll make more sense when you have it in your hand. Also, unplug the harness before you try to pull the master cylinder through the firewall.
Here's a pic. of the clutch safety switch.
You need to pry the plastic retainer off. The switch can then be pushed off of the clutch push rod.
The second pic. shows the wiring for the clutch switch from a 88 manual. Don't know if the wire color codes are the same as your 92 but the switch it self is the same.
