Whats your view point on dual master cylinders.
I always thought bigger was better. So I use
master cylinders with 1" or larger pistions.
But I have been told lately by several people,
and the auto parts guys. That a master
cylinder with a smaller pistion produces more
line pressure,so smaller is better. What do
you think ??
Well we are talking about pounds per square inch of pressure. That is pounds force applied to the m/c piston divided by the area of the piston. So the bigger the area of the piston the bigger the number that you have to divide the force by, so the bigger the diameter of the piston the bigger area it is and so for the same force the bigger diameter piston will produce less pounds per square inch pressure.
The reverse is true for wheel cylinders where bigger diameter will produce more force for the same line pressure.
