my right front axle appears to be leaking, but im not sure, but under that dust cover it is really greasy, and the lower ball joint area is really greasy too. im not sure what the problem is though.

Are you 100% sure that it is grease?
Does it appear to be coming from behind the dust cover (i.e. from the differential side) or does it perhaps look like it transferred there from somewhere else?
As far as I know, there shouldn't be any grease behind that dust cover. If anything, some differential fluid might have migrated to that point.
What does the lower ball joint rubber grease boot look like? If you wipe the grease off, can you see if the boot is torn or perhaps has come off slightly?
Is your problem only that grease is present?
When was the last time that area was greased? Who greased it?
There are a lot of questions in my response, but the answers to those questions will provide the information required for someone to help you out.
