firewall markings

firewall markings
Hello, Making some progress on my truck, While sandblasting the firewall i uncovered some markings and i dont understand what they mean?
First is a big M behind the brake master, 2nd is a 1/4th looking mark behind the engine, above that is the numbers 269.
Also stamped on the firewall is 5 17 2A ?
not sure what they are for? I would guess the M is for color, here are some pic's if that helps

The M could also be manual...as in brakes given its location...but if the door tags paint code is M thats the other likely guess...The 269...my best guess is the last 3 of either the VIN or its order number if its a special order rig.
the 517 2A is the sheet metal date stamp code...I THINK 517 is either 5= 1965, 17= 17th day of the year or month... 2A...2nd week of month, A= 1st shift ...Its just a guess mind you...Im hunting for info decoding the date code of the sheetmetal and other parts.
I did see a bit online where the Jan 92 issue of Mustang Monthly has an article on this on pg pg 26 as I recall it saying...
