Towing Question
I just bought a 2001 F-150 Lariat Supercrew 4x4. I LOVE IT!!!!!! It is a V8 5.4L with the towing package. I am trying to find out how much weight I can haul. I'm going to buy either a 2 or 3 horse trailer (depending on how much I can haul). A 3 horse trailer will weigh about 6500 lbs with the horses. The sticker on the door says: GVWR: 6750. Can someone tell me excatly what that means? Can I haul 6750lbs? Thanks guys.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Dec-02 AT 12:09 PM (EST)]The GVWR means Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. At 6750 GVWR that means that your towing capacity is around 5000 lbs. It could be a little higher if you have the 3:73 rear axle. You didn't say how much the horse trailor weighs when fully loaded. That means horses and tack.
Back to GVWR it is usually figuered the gross weight less the weight of the truck.

Click over on the right side of the page for SPECIFICATIONS and then select 2003 Supercrew. At the top of that page will be a TECHNICAL pick. It says you should be able to pull a 7,700 pound trailer if you have 16" wheels and tires and the listed axle ratio. With 17" wheels and tires, you limited to a 7,100 pound trailer.
