'08 SD w/tailgate step?

I have a squeaking noise since the truck was new and I can only hear it with the sliding rear window open. Sounds like little tiny birds chirping as I shake and rattle down the road.

Anyone else with this? I think it may be the tailgate. Last time I tried to trace it I did'nt check all the way in the back.

The first thing I would do is make sure that it is or isn't the tailgate. Remove the gate and drive it for a day or two and see if the noise goes away. You don't want to be barking up the wrong tree when you can rule it out with virtually no effort.

I have the exact noise your are describing tho I dont have the tailgate step, only noticeable with rear window open, If you figure it out please let me know as its driving me nuts also.
