Last nite my truck just died. It didnt miss or sputter, it just quit and it just so happened it was right in front of the local bar, lol. The truck turns over fine, and I can hear the fuel pump running, although it sounds weak. It has sounded weak since I got the truck (about 3 weeks ago) Anyway I had my code reader in the seat and these are the codes I got:
81 82 87 84 33 41 95 96 Oh yeah its an 88 f250 4x4 c6 extended cab long bed. I know some of those codes are because the air pump is gone and the egr valve is disconnected (bought it that way). The truck has seemed a little underpowered since I got it. This evening I will check fuel pressure and see if I have spark, other than that I am lost and walking. One more thing, while checking the truck over I found the PO must have had a similar problem because the red and brown wires from the fuel pump relay are tied together with an added on wire from the fuse box.
So it all points to your fuel pump.
Everything else is created by an incomplete EGR and smog removal. I can help you make these codes go away if you'd like.
Other than that troubleshoot your fuel pump!
Good luck.
Thats kind of what I was thinking. I am assuming it would be the high pressure pump and not the in tank pumps.
And yeah I would like those EGR codes to go away, any help is appreciated.
Well I have good fuel pressure at the rail, but I don't have any spark. I had the module checked at two different stores and it checked good twice. Not sure where to go from here. I pulled the codes again and its the same ones.
Plug the vacuum line that is hooked up to the smog system and make sure all the electrical stuff is hooked up. This way you will not get any codes, I deleted my smog system, plugged that one line and everything is good. As for the EGR, reconnect it, even with the RJM eliminator kit you will likely have CEL problems. There is no good way to eliminate the EGR system.
