A friend of mine had his ' 07 Screw painted about this same time last year for about $8200. It when from a factory silver to a House of Colors (custom) Mother of Pearl with a Blue metallic flake and multiple layers of clear coat and some sort of PPG protection coat.

He even did some of the prep work himself. Like: remove the weather stripping, seats and carpeting and sanded/removed most of all the doorsill paint, removed the cowl and windshield wipers and all badging; antennas. Also bead blasted & removed the bed.

The engine was also pulled ( he was rebuilding that while @ paint). The paint and body shop gave him a complimentary skid & tow service into thier facility.

At the body shop I work at an all over paint job starts at around $5000. And that's just detrimming and painting, not fixing any dents or dings, or painting any of the jambs or engine bay.

Black paint jobs require a lot of prep work to the body not normally found- and why...

1. Black increases the visability of visual imperfections
2. People who want black cars typically love immaculate appeaances and see imperfections that the average person does not
3. While anyone can spray a car black, few painters really know how to apply black paint to give even an oem grade paint the "wow" factor
