I purchased a new King Ranch FI150 in October of last year. It has the Audiophile optional equipment. So, I was expecting this sound system to be Ford's "premium sound system". I've noticed that when the Bass hits a certain frequency that it causes something in the driver's door panel to making a buzzing noise. I'm not sure if it is the speaker or some piece of the door itself.
It is strange that it doesn't make the buzzing noise all of the time. It only happens when the Bass hits a certain frequency. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet. I will need to find a CD with a song that hits the right frequency to re-create the problem otherwise the dealer will think I'm crazy. Do you think that the dealer will do anything about it assuming that I can get them to hear the buzzing? If so, what do you think they will do?
If they don't help me out then I could try to put some dynomat in the door panel to see if that helps. I hate these kind of issues. They are tough to troubleshoot and resolve. Any advice? Thanks.
i highly doubt they are going to do anything for you. i woud just take the door apart make sure everything is nice and tight and use some sort of rubber or foam insulation behind the door panel
I suspected as much. BTW, I more of a Country music guy than Hip/Hop but, I did play some Hip/Hop to try to replicate the buzzing noise. The actual amount of Bass doesn't necessarily create the buzzing noise, it seems to be a certain frequency. It is why I have to play specific songs that cause the buzzing noise to replicate the problem for someone at the dealer to hear. My wife has noticed the same issue when she drives the truck as well. It is strange. Luckily, it doesn't do it all the time or it would drive me crazy.
My guess is its the door panel itself or something that fell down there.
I know how irritating rattles are. Unfortunately, they are hard to pinpoint.
Try to put pressure on the panel when the music hits that frequency. Just hold your hand on it and push. That might help you find out exactly where it is coming from...
I know this is not what you want to hear, but that buzzing sound usually comes from a speaker that was over modulated one too many times and the cone was "blown". I would suggest removing the speaker grille, make sure the mounting screws are snug, play a CD that usually causes the sound and see if it occurs again. If not, you are good to go. If it does occur again, you will likely have to replace the speaker.
