How much have you pulled
I could see from the grease deposits that it had been cracked for a LOOOOOOOOOONG time, though.

Thank you for replying
I Have a 78' adapted 3/4 ton 300I6 anNP435,Trak loc 3.73's. I'm just curious if i could pull it?
Thanks Dusty
a 96 250 w/300 six,with the tow option, There were points
on that trip where I was in 4 wheel low 1st and was stalling if
I lost rpm on a hill, 4 by 4 never worked the same after that.
There are alot of crazy claims made about towing exceesive
weight with under equipped vehicles, so check your actual rating
and I have found these ratings to be a bit excessive in some situations,

The Ex has towed the boat (7500lbs) from Atlanta to Key West FL 4 times (about 2K miles round trip), and twice up into the TN Mtns. I had to drop down into 2nd gear @ 45 mph to climb Monteagle pass going west out of Chattanooga. I reset the overhead MPG at the bottom of the climb, at the top, I was getting 2 MPG. Fortunately it isn't a long hill. I've only towed the travel trailer (8000lbs) around the North GA Mtns. I've also got a 20' flatbed trailer that hauls a Ford 1720 4WD farm tractor. With all the implements, it's over 7000lbs as well.
The Ex has a 3.73 rear diff and tows well, but lacks power in OD. It could use a gear between 3rd and 4th. Typically I speed up down hill and ease up going uphill, trying to maintain enough speed to stay in OD without needing to shift.
My F350 carries the load better than the Ex, but even with it's 4.10 diff, the 7.5l V8 has less power and drops out of OD on all long hills. The 7.5l V8 just doesn't compare to the 6.8l V10. My next truck will have 10 or 0 spark plugs.

Yes my friend, The great V10 is the way to go.
as for the 0 plug:-X23 ,The power Stroke is a great one ok,
but the cost of service would have ben just to much for me to handle.
"GO with the V10," not realy that much of a dif"you can buy a lot of gas for the ex cost of the option,$5500 + service, think about it,when you go through a drive through, you dont have to turn of the truck so they can hear your order
, and the "smell" is a lot better.yes my friend ,V10 all the way>combined) with my 79 f-100 with 302, aod and then 2:73
>gears....... i now have 3:50 gears and suspect it would

If you can, go with the 4.30 gear, that is what I have, and man, will it pull
And I got to use stump pulling 4 low 1st gear this summer to pull 4 tree stumps out of my front yard. Then I went and filled the bed with top soil and filled in the stump holes and huge trenches that I dug with my tires
. I love having a truck that can do all of that.2000 F350SDXLT,SRW,RC,5spd man,V10, Front Leveling Kit,4.30 gears, 285/75/16 Wild Country

Gota love that V10
to a stump up the hill And yank myself up with a 60 000lb winch
if it's to steep to climb(straight up almost), Ive used
1 1/2 foot diameter stumps for this, and smaller.THey dont
budge.

Here's a photo of a palm tree I pulled with my truck. I put about 1000# of sand in the bed before the pull for better traction. Then I hooked my chain and straps on the tree as high as I could, put it in 4LO and pulled it out roots and all. After unloading the sand into the corral and cutting the tree into smaller pieces, you can see the stump I'm winching into the bed.
BTW, I hate palm trees. They are the biggest weed here in SoCal.
