The torque converter is closer to the engine, those are clutch packs, planetaries and the rest of the transmission internals. The torque converter is in the bellhousing, closer to the engine from what's in your pictures. There's probably a dust shield that needs to be removed to see the torque converter and flexplate.

Do these transmissions not use a valve body anymore?

If it's in the bell housing then what are these people talking about. I dropped the pan removed the filter and then i assumed the torque converter was above that.

The only other thing on the bell housing right before the oil pan is a small plate. I remove that and all i can see or have access to is a very very small portion of the flywheel

leakage from dust plate

I put 12 and 1/2 quarts in and no leaks but a slight drip from the dust cover plate and then i went to drive off and it sprayed from there according to my wife who was watching; luckily it didn't lose to much. The only cause of this would be that I did not tighten the drain plug on the torque converter enough correct?

their is a dust cover under the bell housing pull that and then you will see the torque converter...its a big round thing that goes from the flywheel to the trans.

what i am trying to point out is that you do not need 4 posts in under 30 minutes, one after another.

it is easier to add to the first one and better for people reading.
