I use amsoil series 3000 heavy duty diesel 5w30 in the motor and I'v used their cetane and really like their product. I go 10,000 miles on the motor then change the filter then go another 10,000 then change it all out.
so I imagine good luck with the oil? and are you using the synthetic ? I honestly think that the amsoil product is comparably priced as far as other syn oils for the diesels....did you notice alot difference with the amsoil cetane booster compared to others?
btw how have the oil samples been on the 10000 mile changes
yea it's the synthetic I'v had it analyzed and they said I could go longer but that's a good number to remember plus I don't want to push it to much plus my bro is a dealer so that helps on the price. I really didn't see much difference in the centane booster maybe alittle smoother all around.
I'v been thinking about switching rotella T 15W40, What are you running?
ive so far used regular rotella...mobile one...the chevron one...and I believe the valvoline one...and rotella syn...all of them did well regular rotella made my truck hate the winter time...but all of the other syns seemed the same (never had them tested) but all looked the same when I had it changed...the syn was definitely a good investment but it costs so much
I haven't used a synthetic yet, I've always used Delo 400 5W-40 and haven't experienced any issues oil related (other than a leaking seal on oil pan, but I don't think that has anything to do with it)
have you seen how much it is to buy the syn from the parts store or wally-world? thats around what it costs to get the oil from those places but your not talking about a filter but if its good enough to last a bit longer than other oils id say its worth it
I've used Amsoil's cetane boost and couldn't swear to any major increases. Likewise for Powerservice or any other cetane boost I've tried. Types of driving and whether you are towing/hauling all play into it. When the weather warms up and we go back to summer blend I'm going to play around with additives again to see if I notice anything different this year.
