I just read this little bit of info that I didn't know before." The Ford Raptor and Ram Power Wagon look extra beastly with their semi-truck running lights. U.S. law requires any brute more than 80 inches wide to wear five amber lights, either on the roof or in the grille."

I learned two things.. the Raptor and Ram are wider than 80" and the law requires 5 amber lights.. Wonder how wide my Jeep is and where they measure from? (thinking tires, outside to outside)

Well I haven't been doing much besides paying for parts but Clint has been working on the top end of Green's engine starting to get it ready for Utah in September.

My new Teraflex Ball Joints came in and I am anxious to get them installed on the JK.

I have been driving a Dodge Ram for the last three days. It has air ride suspension, a killer stereo with Bose, and a sub, 50 buttons on the steering wheel, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, etc.. etc.. but in the end, it sure what nice to get back into my F150 and drive last night.

I put in my Ball Joints, now my Death wobble has gone away, but I question if I will have to have an alignment, because the JK wanders all over the lane. Of course I have been too scared to drive it on the road for such a long time because of death wobble, that maybe I forgot how to drive it on the street/road. I have some more research to do.

I did some research, and it seems that maybe I can adjust my steering box a little to take care of some of the sloppiness of the wheel. Its not terrible, but it does have about 1/6th of a turn before I see much of a difference of movement of wheels. A retired Jeep mechanic chimed in and said on the alignment rack, adjusting the box was the first step they taught him to do, so that all of the other adjustments would be more accurate. I have also heard that if you get to a point that you have to adjust them, that its time to replace them. (thoughts?)

There are so many things that can cause a vehicle to wander. I would sure try to tighten up the gear box. There isn't much to lose, but don't over do it as I've heard getting it too tight can lead to premature wear. Also on my F250 SD it was starting to wander and the torsion bar end connectors were badly worn. Replacing them made a big difference.

So.. Sunday after finishing working on the Mercury, I did some work to the Jeep. I was attempting to put in some spacers to level out the front. I rented some coil spring compressors, and compressed as much as I could. It was to the point I was expecting things to get ugly. I put the jeep in a bind hoping that would help, but even with it extended out as far as I had tools to make happen, it still didnt compressed it enough, to be able to remove it.. All the while waiting to see it exolode .

Any Advice? How would you compress the spring enough to get it out?

I would remove the tire, sway bar, shock, and anything else that would limit up travel. The jack up on that end of the axle to compress the spring as much as possible. Then open the spring compressor as far as it would go and then tighten as much as I thought it should be. Then put a jack stand under the frame and drop the jack if it will go low enough.

Many coil spring compressor's are made for shorter coil springs. Could be the one you have is to short to be effective.

After more thought. If you cannot get a longer spring compressor and have room try 2 and over lap at least one coil in the middle.
