Towing capacity!

I have a 2000 expedition 4x4 with 17in wheels 5.4L 3.55 pos trac axle how can i figure out my max towing capacity. and i have factory tow package.

7400 LBS same as my 2001 and is in your manual

I have the exact same expy 2000 eb. 5.4 3:55 ls, 17inches tires and my manual say's 6900lb. It is 7400lb if you have 16" tires.

I'll add another vote for the 6900lbs. My 2002 has the same specs as above and it's rated at 6900lbs.

Hi, I wouldn't push it much over 5000lbs since the ratings assume only the driver. Over a short distance once in a while probably OK at 6900.

I tow a 27ft travel trailer around 5800lb loaded with my 2000 expy same specs as yours and I have no problem what so ever. I did put Cooper LT tires on it so as far as handling that made a huge difference.

GVWR is specific to each vehicle and is listed on the Safety
Compliance Label on the driver’s door pillar.
Get your Expy weighed and then figure how much you have left to work with.
