Need a opinion

i have a 2001 f150 5.4L with 162,000 miles on her i havent had any problems with her except shes burnin radiator fluid and the temp gauge shows normal and it aint leakin anywhere. Could it possibly be the thermostat stuck open or closed? Thats the only thing i can think of.
thanks for any help

I dont think your T-stat is the problem. The excess fluid is supposed to go into the plastic jug for overflow.
Stuck open the engine'd run cool and the Emissions would notice it, you'd get a Check engine lite and a code.
Stuck closed and you notice right away as the engine might quit but you'd get steam outta the engine compartment from somewhere.

My 97 5.4 loses fluid too. I notice it more if I've been on the hiway using passing gear.

I havent found the leak yet. I'm beginning to wonder if its going through the exhaust system somehow and out the Tailpipe.

One time, when I was in a real hurry and passing like a nut case, I lost all my oil and the fluid in just a short 40 miles. That only happend one time though.

Not likely. Steam would be white.
But I dont know if your losing so much that you'd notice.
And I dont have any idea where it might come from.
On some of the older Fords, there could be a leak in the Vacuam system and a little fluid would come into the Carb that way.
I've never had to look under my hood for anything serious. I just dont know this 5.4 engine that well.
