Sorry to change my mind again, but I just bought a 2 barrel holly from a buddy for $150. So I will put that on there and see how it goes, if its a no go, I will start over again. Thanks for all the help.
+1 on what tigerdan said. if you decide to buy a carb from the store it may run like crap out of the box and youll need to get the tuning kit for it which costs another 70 bucks for about 5 dollars worth of jets, needles, and springs. also a 600 cfm carb might be a little too much for a 360. i have a edelbrock 1405 600cfm on my 360 and i love it, but in my opinion its a bit too much cfm for that particular motor. my carb brand new out of the box ran richer than bill gates, and the cruise mode to power mode transition happened at the wrong time and i needed to change the vacuum springs on it as well. but then again i am getting 22 hg of vacuum at idle and that sure does affect things.
I bought a Performer 390 Intake and a Holley 4160. I just installed them not less than 2 weeks ago. The 4160 is a 600cfm carb. I have no issues with it being too much carb or needing a tuning kit. A 360 or 390 stock or with a slight build will take a 600-650cfm carb with no issue in my opinion. My engine is completly stock except for .030 over pistons and Police Intercepter valve springs. I even had the stock exhaust logs and 2BBL intake and carb up until a week or 2 ago. Runs realllllllly good! Oh and stock distributer with petronix with 15 degrees of timing and 18" of vacuum.
Sorry for chaging my mind again, but I just bought a holly 2 barrel from a buddy for $150. I thought for the price I would give it a try. If its a no go, I'll let you know.
