I used ethanol E85 fuel sometime back and my check engine light came on. I had the truck smog tested and it failed PO174 too lean Bank 2 is the result of the smog test. I am going to Clean the MAF and replace the fuel line filter anything less I should do????
This may be a dumb question, but is your truck Flex-Fuel rated? If not, that may be the problem. I don't think flex fuel vehicles were available in 2004 trucks. I am not 100% sure, but someone else will chime in and comment.
they weren't. Flex Fuels started with the 2006 models
the E85 is some pretty corrosive stuff. You may have done some damage to your truck when you ran it. The gas pumps really should be required to put a huge warning sign on those damn pumps so people do use it on a non FFV vehicle
I would do what you've already said and clear the codes. Then see if it comes back.
Welcome to the forums! Get that stuff out of your truck asap! Then fill er up with regluar 87! I would run a fuel system cleaner and then once shes running, take it out on the expressway for what my high school shop teacher used to call a "hillbilly" tune up. Get up to about 55 and then stomp on it for a few miles to clear that crap out of your fuel system. Just run 87 in these trucks, premium or anything else is a waste of money and does nothing and has no benefits.
