hole in hood

Casey, just wanted your opinion before I do anything what should I do with this hood it is very difficult to find another one (i haven't so far) should I weld in a patch or weld in a louvre panel which would be better?

As for which panel to fill the hole with, it is all a matter of preference. Both panels still have to be welded. My dad restores antique cars and travels quite a bit in search of parts. I logged off after reading your question & viewing the pic's and gave him a call. He said that he purchased a brand new 40 hood (flawless) in Oklahoma on his last trip out west but he was already overloaded & it is still there awaiting his return. Unfortunately, he says that it could be as much as 6 months before he returns.
I tell ya what! I'm in north Ga. and am more than willing to do the job for you if you're willing to make the trip!
If not, I will be more than happy to talk you through it.

Casey, thanks at this point in time I'm just trying to figure what I'm going to do with it. I still have to finish the 67 mustang so it will be spring before I get to do anything major with it. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to flame it if I do then I would want a flat hood. If your dad wants to sell the hood he has let me know and that will be the last thing I do before paint again thanks for your time and efforts.I will keep everyone posted. John
