I have a 1999 F250. I did not drive it for several months. Got in it yesterday, turned the key. The wait to start light did not come on. There is power, the engine rolls, but will not fire. Any thoughts?
being up north and sitting all winter i woud first change out the fuel filter and check the oil in the HPOP just to make sure the oil didnt drain back to the crank..if it did...fill it up with oil....like Mark said..chrage the batts and try again...
Are you hearing a clicking from underneath the dash while you are cranking on it? If you are then it is weak batteries, but the wait to start light should still come on though. May want to take a look at the GP Relay if any of the wires on top are charred you need to replace it, even if its not bad its only like $12. Not a mechanic but have had a lil experience with similar problems.
I am sorry, but I dissagree, you are saying the wait to start light is not coming on? Please disconnect the fuel bowl heater, check fuses under the dash.. I think it is #11 or # 30, it is the fuse that takes care of your Fuel bowl heater and your PCM

i got to slow down and read things a little better...i missed that whole line.....i would still do whats been said as well as check this fuse.....good catch Pat..i would rep ya if i could....
The batteries should be good. They are less than a year old and I put the charger on prior to trying the truck.
The wait to start light does not come on but the engine rolls over fine. I will check the HPOP and fuel filter.
The engine WILL NOT START unless that light comes on.
No light = no power to the ECU.
Like has been mentioned earlier, unplug the fuel bowl, replace the blown fuse and attempt the start.
The truck started right up after checking the fuses. They were not blown. I have been driving it for a week and had one recurrence on day 3. It started after reseating the fuses so I am still not certain of the root cause. Thanks for the help and sorry for the delay ingetting back
