when doing small areas with primer , if you brush it on will it dry properly? I have been doing some small areas with an acrylic sandable lo voc primer,it seems to work by brush, but I am not sure it is drying properly because of the thickness. I dont always have the time to fire up and clean a gun when working on my truck an hour at a time and I dont like spray can primer. any ideas.

In too have the same concerns as you. I teach autobody at a high school. We are constantly using the gun to prime small surfaces. I tried the brush technique not long ago. Before sanding I used a guide coat. This allowed me to see that all the brush strokes were completly removed before painting. In the end I thought it best to organize the work flow so that there was never one small area to prime but rather 2 or 3 jobs ready.
